There’s so much to see and do within easy reach of our holiday parks in Selkirkshire. The beautiful landscape was inspiration to Scottish writers like James Hogg, the 'Ettrick Shepherd’. His life and work are celebrated at Bowhill House, a Georgian mansion also home to an exceptional art collection and with lovely woodland walks in its extensive grounds. A must for any caravan holidays in Selkirkshire is a trip to Abbotsford house, the home built by Sir Walter Scott. As well as featuring turrets and battlements, it boasts a number of historic relics including Rob Roy’s gun. In the town of Jedburgh, pretty painted houses line the main street - take a town tour, and explore the ancient abbey ruins. And there’s wonderful walking and glorious views to enjoy in the twin valleys of Ettrick and Yarrow.

Just returned from a wonderful few days in what I can only describe as “my little slice of heaven”. If you want connectivity to the electronic world, if you want facilities and things to entertain, then this is not the place to be, if you want scenery, scenic walks and drives, peace and quiet and perfect dark nights then it is heaven. We stayed in a static caravan which was lovely, modern, well looked after and easy to live in, a modern gas fire to keep off the cold nights and blown air heating in the bedroom to take off the chill. The beds were made up for us and they had left sachets of tea, coffee and milk for us to use. Dogs are accepted in the caravans, in fact we saw a lot of people with dogs on site both rented and owner caravans (we did take covers for the seats but that was our choice and not a requirement). This site is really remote though, down single lane roads (with passing places) which are frequented by big double trailered timber wagons but don’t let that put you off, everyone (drivers of cars and wagons) was very courteous and as long as you don’t drive like an idiot you will be fine. Rides out to the local towns provide such scenic routes with the most fantastic scenery and with free roaming sheep in a lot of cases so drive with this in mind. We were unlucky that the road to the nearest town was closed and the diversion was a long way round (but that was just our bad luck and wouldn’t affect most other weeks as it was only for that week) it didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the time away though, it just meant we saw more scenery than we had anticipated, admittedly we did ignore the road closed signs for quite a while and luckily we did because it meant we found Alemoor Loch which we might not have found otherwise, a brilliant place for the dogs to run and swim and so quiet. Hawick, Selkirk and Moffat were all nice places, we didn’t have any more days left so couldn’t try any other places, we will do them on our next visit (we will be returning). The site wardens were lovely and so helpful, parts of the site looked a bit dilapidated in places (few pitches empty and some really old “owner” caravans about, others were well looked after, it really was a mix) but this was away from where the caravan we were in was so it didn’t really make any difference to us. I would thoroughly recommend this holiday site for anyone looking for peace and tranquility away from it all.

A lovely park with extremely friendly and helpful staff and the caravan was large. An excellent area - quiet and secluded, a truly peaceful holiday in the beautiful Scottish Borders.

Perfect for getting away before the Christmas chaos. Beautiful well kept park, very friendly. Excellent well equipped log cabin, more than enough space for the whole family,(2 adults 3 kids)!!! I would recommend this park to anyone wishing to unwind and take it easy. Beautiful countryside and plenty of walks, we can`t wait to return in the new year.
